ShoreBank Enterprise Detroit is a nonprofit organization that provides loans and technical assistance to small businesses in Detroit.
It works in partnership with Detroit Renaissance, the Detroit Investment Fund, and National City Bank CDC, under the name Detroit Community Loan Fund (DCLF),
ShoreBank Enterprise Detroit also collaborates with the Detroit Local Initiatives Support Corp. (LISC) in the Vacant Property Campaign. The Campaign leverages resources received from the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) to help local developers and small businesses finance the purchase and renovation of foreclosed and abandoned properties. It is designed to stabilize property values and encourage energy efficient improvements for residential and commercial buildings.
ShoreBank Enterprise provides growth capital for minority-owned and Detroit businesses unable to receive all of the capital they need from traditional financing sources. It provides subordinated debt to companies that obtain loans from banks, or it can be the primary lender
Business loans can be used to:
- Purchase equipment
- Increase staff
- Rehab abandoned commercial property, or redevelop an existing building
- Use as working capital
ShoreBank Enterprise Detroit offers management assistance, such as mentoring and business planning, through partnerships and referrals. It has also provided assistance and formed partnerships with local community development organizations that provide training programs in the areas of Workforce Development, Construction trades, and Contractor Assistance to city of Detroit residents and contractors.
ShoreBank Enterprise Detroit was established in 1996 through a partnership with Detroit Renaissance, which included creating the ShoreBank-owned bank in Detroit in 1995.
